In the new season-opening race at Losail circuit on Monday (3/21/2011) morning before, Lorenzo the start of the third managed to display the best performance.
Despite having to compete with the more dominant Honda duo, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa, Lorenzo is still able to survive in the big three for 23 laps to finish behind Stoner.
This is arguably a positive achievement given the performance of Yamaha in pre-season testing is not good and Lorenzo himself as not yet comfortable with his new motorcycle. However, the results showed the opposite in Qatar finished second and Lorenzo recognized more meaningful than a champion.
"I think I'm more proud to be on the podium rather than victory in this race. That's what I felt tonight. Sagat I'm proud of myself and my team that never gave up and always worked all they could to provide the best for me," said Lorenzo in Crash.
The same thing also disclosed Wilco Zeelenberg team managers who assess Lorenzo has appeared as much as possible and provide the best for 'Team Fork Tala'. It also could be a signal that Lorenzo was able to compete with Honda duo who perform an impressive pre-season since then.
