According to a new AA Streetwatch survey many drivers are still not using a seat belt! The survey which was taken throughout April and May claimed that one in 20 drivers are not buckling up and one in 25 had break lights out!
400 volunteers were placed at roundabouts and junctions across the UK and witnessed the habits of around 40,000 vehicles, the largest survey of its kind in British history.
Failing to indicate was also a high up in the results with just over 30 percent doing so but surprisingly mobile phone usage was much lower that expected with only 0.23 percent witnessed chatting on a hand held device.
4,000 of the volunteers also witnessed road rage which is endured by drivers everyday in used cars, London being a great place to experience this for yourself!
In the build up to the survey the AA asked 11,500 of it members to preempt the results with 8 in 10 believing 5 percent of drivers would be seen using a mobile phone, a figure which has been proven to be way off the mark! The perception of road users in the UK is obviously far worse than it actually is!
