Mercedes breaks Drifting World Record!

Mercedes demo driver Mauro Calo has broken the Guiness World record for the longest powerslide by over 350 metres.

Using a Mercedes C63 AMG, Calo managed 8.5 laps of the Mercedes-Benz World track based in Brooklands Surrey, drifting a total distance of 2308 metres! The only thing stopping the record being extended any further was the rear tyre bursting and that same tyre will now be framed and displayed at Mercedes-Benz World.

When the triumphant drifter was asked what his next challenge could possibly be, he responded "smashing the world blindfold speed record. I'm not sure how far it is, but I reckon I can get that one too".

Maybe I should pop down to Hampshire and try breaking the record myself in my friends new Mercedes C Class. Southampton ring road would surely be an ideal place to attempt it!
